Temporary fillers

Temporary, absorbable fillers are broken down at different rates by the body so these have to be regularly re-injected.

The German Society for Aesthetic Surgery (GÄCD) recommends absorbable fillers. The most widely used temporary filler substances according to the GÄCD are collagen, hyaluronic acid, poly-L-lactic acid and autologous fat.

Autologous fat differs from other temporary, absorbable filling materials in three regards: firstly, it is not a classical ‘filler’ but rather an autologous transplant; secondly, it is a natural and untreated body material; and thirdly, it is long lasting (sustained effect).
